When to visit (major events and festivals)

The 'famous British weather' really makes the late spring and summer months the best time to visit the UK. This is when you can enjoy the many sites of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales with less of a chance of being rain on!

If the weather doesn't bother you, it may be best to contact the British Tourist Authority at http://www.visitbritain.com to find out about any major events that might be taking place at the time of your travels. It is also advisable to steer clear of public holidays, when many of the attractions and shops will be closed. Similarly, school holiday periods will invariably make towns and cities busier during the week. Below is a list of British Bank Holidays:

January: 1st - New Years Day

March/April: Good Friday and Easter Sunday (Check at http://www.visitbritain.com to find the exact date of this as it changes every year)

May: First Monday in May - May day and Last Monday in May - Bank Holiday

August: Last Monday in August - Bank Holiday

December: 25th - Christmas day and 26th - Boxing Day
